Policy Statement
In order to meet its vision of “Something for Everyone,” Rampart Library District provides spaces, equipment, and activities which facilitate patron creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurialism. Creative spaces include the Woodland Park Public Library RLD Studio and RLD Makerspace as well as smaller, designated sections of that branch and the Florissant Public Library. Patron safety and enjoyment of creative spaces, items, and activities are the highest priorities. Generally, the guidelines below refer to specialized equipment or activities which take place in the Makerspace, Studio, or designated locations in each facility.
Guidelines
- Creative space users must have an active library card.
- Users must adhere to safety procedures for both spaces and equipment.
- All creative space users must undergo orientation and training for each pertinent space and item as outlined by RLD procedures.
- Any creative space user under the age of 18 must be supervised by a parent/guardian at all times.
- Users, including parent/guardian supervisors of those under the age of 18, must sign a waiver releasing the library of liability for damage, loss, or harm which might occur to persons or effects during operation of specialized creativity equipment in designated spaces.
- Users reserve Makerspace equipment, rather than the entire Makerspace. Therefore, multiple users may be present.
- Creative equipment users must ensure that items and spaces are clean, neat, and ready for the next user by the end of their reserved time. Users who fail to perform these duties, as defined by the Director or delegates, may be barred from future use of the space.
- RLD will charge creators for materials they consume during use such as photo paper, 3-D printer filament, sewing thread, Cricut vinyl, and other items as outlined by procedures.
- Food and drink will not be allowed in certain spaces and around specific equipment, as determined by procedures.
